The Spread

This is calculated by oddsmakers and they try to make it close to as even as possible so there will be betting action on both basketball teams involved. One team will be the favorite and the other team will be the underdog. The spread is the number of points would have to win by.
For example Memphis Grizzlies vs Utah Jazz

Memphis Grizzlies -2 -110
Utah Jazz +2 -110

The (-) Means favored. So in this example the Grizzlies would be favored to win.
You can bet on either team. But the spread means the Grizzlies need to win by at least 3 points for you to win and cover the spread.
If a team wins by the exact number that can be conspired a push and usually your money is returned. Tennessee has put in place a push law. See our laws pages for details on this.

Moneyline

Moneylines do not have a spread. You would be just betting on a winner or a loser. 
Lets use the example above of the Grizzlies and Jazz. Lets say the Grizzlies were a favorite at -850 
and the Jazz were the underdogs at +600. If someone were to bet on the Jazz as the underdog for a straight up win. You would have to bet $850 on the Grizzlies to win $100. But if you bet just $100 on the Jazz you could win $600

Total Points/Over Under

With this bet you don't care about the teams.The only thing you are betting on is the score. Lets say the Grizzlies  verse the Jazz game had a total of 197.5 points. You can bet whether the score will go over 197.5o -105 points or stay under 197.5u -115 points. This is a very easy bet to understand. While it sounds easy the oddsmakers are very good at getting very close to realistic numbers. So let's say the score was 194 falling 3.5 points under the line. If you bet $115 on the under you would win $100

Quarter/1st Half lines

 A basketball game is divided into 4 quarters. You can do bets on the first 1st quarter and 1st half lines which is basically 1/4 of the spread. The half would be bet on the same way.

Halftime Lines 

Halftime lines can be exciting because you basically get a brand new spread for the rest of the game. The second half becomes a brand new game.

Parlay

A parlay bet means making multiple bets. The payoff is usually very big because the odds of winning Parlays are so low. So you would combine a series of bets all in one bet. You need 2 or more bets to consider it a parlay. To win every single bet has to win. It is a pretty big long shot but the payoffs can be huge.

Futures

Futures are fun bets because you are betting on an outcome far in the future. The odds on futures can change all the time. Sometimes a sportsbook will also change odds if a ton of money is all going on one team. Here are some of the future bets

Teasers

A teaser bet is basically a parlay that allows you to make some changes. Some people think teasers are easier to win over parlays. Basically you can change the point spread and over under totals to try to take advantage of your bet.
